TIANJIN MATZU TEMPLE

Members of Peking Opera group

Matzu Worship is officially allowed in China. It proves that religious passion is unbroken. Thousands of people gathering on the Temple's yard. Devotion is openly shown. Chinese surprisingly behave spontaneously, unhindered by social conventions as is usually the case

Peach flowers as the symbol of the Cosmic Womb!

The enthusiasm of the people is unstoppable. It means that the MotherGoddess is still very much in the hearts and minds of the Chinese people

No odd man out. On the contrary!

Believe it or not. Just like in the West with the Black Madonna, priests in Taiwan/HongKong have tried to "whitewash" the black face of Mother Matsu. It caused such a great anger with the devotees, that the priest were forced to restore the original state of the statues. Mother's Blackness proves to be universal!
