LADY AND HER BEASTS SERIES An
artistic composition of a vulva, two birds and a woman's head. It is proof of the fact
that the Bulang revere the original Great Mother. Just like many other tribes the Han
Chinese have probably pushed them to the south. It means that the Chinese heartland was
once dominated by the Mother |

On the left a most complete mythological
image. At the bottom is the birthgiver, the Great Mother, with Her legs spread. Born out
of Her - left and right - are Her Beasts (two buffalo's). On top Her crescent Moon with
the Sun, once again emphasizing the Mother as the birthgiver of the Son |

THE WA PEOPLE
The Wa killed people for sacrificing them to Heaven. Mao Tse Dong made an end to this,
"recommending" them to take buffalo's/goats instead |

The Wa apparently had a clear sense of
equality between women and men. They related them to the Moon Goddess (left) and
the Sun God (right). Fascinating, isn't it? |

And then this. The colonizing powers (British,
French) of IndoChina and Birma sent Christian missionaries to Yunnan. This was 200 years
ago. Ever since there are Minorities which adhere to Christianity. They have a very
primitive belief based on horror. Video's are shown of Jesus' death which are sickening.
Just like the monks forced us to convert 1500 years ago, I thought. I felt really pity for
these people |

THE MOSUO PEOPLE
In the Mosuo site I have shown the people. Here in Kunming Minorities Village I had the
opportunity to photograph the facilities (rooms) in detail |

The
Sacred Hearth |
|
|
The symbol to the right is NOT a FireGoddess
symbol as some feminists wanted to suggest. At least not the upper part which indeed
suggests "multiple breasts". It is not. What is "matriarchal" about
this image is the big flower at the bottom. It symbolized the Womb. She is giving birth to
Her Sons (the cubes) with the hope that they would become Enlightened rulers (flames)
("chakravartins"). This symbol can be seen on every (patriarchal) Tibetan
Buddhist temple, however, without Womb! |
The
Lotus with Her Jewels |
|
|
|
|
The "Room of Birth and Death" is
the real sacred shrine in the Mosuo home. It underlines the belief in the Cosmic Womb, for
only the Womb is giving birth while taking everything back into Her Dark Lap |
